OK, so I've accessed Mac Support and found out about the update released on 12 Apr, but how do I download and install the patch?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Open Software Update to download and install the security update. You can download the standalone updater if you prefer: Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 8. You can also download Apple's new removal tool: Flashback malware removal tool.

The standalone removal tool is only for Lion, and only if Java isn't installed.
