normal pictures all of a suddent change and become blocks of colours. may happen on a preview bar, in actual full size and or in
downloading to desktop. I have an iMac from last May... anyone else experience same?

you may have a similar problem as DanielJoshuaLambert here:
Almost every shoot I do, Aperture manages to corrupt 5-10 RAW images?
Have a look at this thread and see, if any of the suggestions apply to your case, then post back, if you need help with any of the suggested measures.
