Cannot find Lion upgrade in Apple Store? Need to upgrade to Icloud.

Hi, I am trying to upgrade to OS X Lion so that I can use Icloud, but I can't find the upgrade application in the Apple Store. I saw that there were certain requirements to be able to access the upgrade (from Snow Leopard) and unless I am mistaken, I have completed all the requirements. Below are the details of my current system status :

Does anyone have any insight on why I can't upgrade? I need to do this to both my Imac and my Macbook Air. Both are updated to 10.6.8.

There is NO Lion Upgrade. You buy Lion and install it over the top of your current SL install.

Lion is Lion is Lion. Whether you are installing it to a fresh new hard drive or using it to upgrade from Snow Leopard.

Do software update, make sure your running 10.6.8

Finder - Applications - App Store - Search for lion top right side of App Store Window

Hello:

As I recall (it has been awhile), OS X 10.7 is available in the App store (not the Apple on-line store). You can download it from there. You are allowed to use it on the computers you control.

You have to go to the Mac App Store to purchase it. It is not on the Apple Store (except in a USB stick), and it is not on the iTunes App store.

In 10.6.8, there is a menu item called "App Store" in the Apple menu. Select that and log in using yoiur AppleID. You can then purchase Lion.

Thank you. I didn't realize there was a difference between the App Store and the regular Apple store and yes, I found Lion in the App Store.

HOWEVER, when i clicked on my "App Store" icon in Applications, I get a message saying that the program cannot be opened because part of it is missing or damaged.

When I to online and try to download the App Store Application, I get this message :

>>> Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (macappstore) isn't associated with any program.

I have no idea why this program would be damaged/missing, and less so how to fix it since I can't re-download.

Suggestions are greatlly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

Download the 10.6.8 combo update from the Apple Downloads site and install it. Hopefully that will fix the App Store problem.

Firefox doesn't understand the macappstore url which only redirects you to the App Store, so that is irrelevant at this point.

I suggest it is always a good idea to do some preparation before installing a new operating system.

1. Clone your existing Snow Leopard system to an external hard disk, and when you have it, copy the installer onto the clone as well. There is no easy backward path to SL. http://www.bombich.com/download.html

2. Check your apps for compatibility, PPC apps are not supported. http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
