connect iPad to network printer?

Can I connet my iPad to a network printer? I am running XP so iCloud does not work. I have set my computer up as a network local network computer. Can I use that to reach the printer from the iPad? It is a USB connection, not a wireless printer.

iPad 2, Windows XP

You can connect to any AirPrint enabled printer through your wireless net work. Here is the list.

If you do not have or want an AirPrint enabled printer, you can get one of several apps in the store that will send your print job through your computer to any network printer that computer can access. Apps like print and share, printopia, etc.

No one who has used this link has reported such a thing before. Is this your virus checker on your kit telling you this or is this one of those so-called internet checkers from someone such as Google telling your this?

Enabling AirPrint on your PC will allow you to print from your iPad wirelessly over your LAN to a printer connected to your PC over USB.
