Can I connet my iPad to a network printer? I am running XP so iCloud does not work. I have set my computer up as a network local network computer. Can I use that to reach the printer from the iPad? It is a USB connection, not a wireless printer.

You can connect to any AirPrint enabled printer through your wireless net work. Here is the list.

As I intended to say, my printer is not an airprinter. Also, I can't use iCloud because it doesn't recognize the XP system. However, I did download an icon and set up to link to the printer. Found the printer and was installing it. when it asked for an IP address. How do I find the address for my home network?

I did it on a Mac and it works great. I have an older HP Photosmart printer connected to my Mac mini by USB. Folks have responded positively when I have given them the PC version link.
Dah-veed - When I went to download the file to enable air-print, the virus checker said it was a dangerous file. So I stopped at that point, temporarily. Does this file work if the printer is not an airprint but is connected to a network computer?
No one who has used this link has reported such a thing before. Is this your virus checker on your kit telling you this or is this one of those so-called internet checkers from someone such as Google telling your this?
Enabling AirPrint on your PC will allow you to print from your iPad wirelessly over your LAN to a printer connected to your PC over USB.

I've been working with this most of the afternoon. Is it something that will work ONLY in iTunes works? iTunes won't work on my XP.
AirPrint doesn't require iTunes.
I am not sure what you mean by working most of the afternoon, this takes most folks less than 15 minutes to download, install, configure and begin using.
