Thanks for your response but I have Address Book and iCal on my Mac, not Windows' programs. The Ivan syncs but the Address Book does not. Apparently, Address Book is not recognized in the sync process. What should I do?
I am having the same problem with both my Nano and my brand new iPod Classic. I have spent hours on this and no advice works. I too would like to know what to do. The articles were of no help unfortunately. Very frustrating.
Forgot to say, that when I did try to sync contacts, it deleted information from my MacBook Pro!!!!!! I will have to write them all down, for fear when I next sync my iPhone I will lose vital information. I don't want to carry a piece of paper with all of my contacts but it looks like I will have to. Apple, please help!
I have found a way. Not elegant, but it does work.
Itunes looks for a contact list on your mac. But, if you are signed up for iCloud, it appears your contacts are actually on iCloud, not your Mac. So, you see your address book (left column) shows headings for "on my mac" and for "iCloud". If you select "on my mac", no contacts appear.
However, you can drag contacts or groups of contacts from the iCloud list to the on my mac list. They will then sync to your iPod classic.
Of course, you'll have to periodically some housecleaning as you modify the contacts that are in the cloud, but it does work.
Worked for my too johngardner1, thanks a million.
I'm trying to use this solution too, but I don't have an "On My Mac" in my Contacts sidebar, and I can't figure out how to add it. Can anyone help?
Only thing I can think of is to go to System Preferences "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" see if you can add it in the "add other account" section (I see a couple of options there that have the Contacts icon).
