Q: mac mini entertainment server

I have a 2006 mac mini I'd like to use as an entertainment server. I upgraded ram to 2 GB. As I understand it, this would give me more contentoptions than Apple TV, correct?

 

Also, are there any good turtorials on how to set this up with an HD TV?

The 2006 is a little dated, but it will work fine as an entertainment center.
