You plugged the USB cable into your computer, put a disc in and... Does it read a music CD or video DVD? Are you trying to burn a disc and it fails? The drive should work out of the box with no extra software required.
U mean i don't have to install it?
When i try to put a disc in, it didn't prompt me anything !
What happens when you put in a pre-recorded disk or a program installation disk? (For normal burning and reading, I have never had an external optical drive that required drivers)
When I got my MBA, I bought a no-namer DVD burner, plugged it in and if I remember correctly, I saw a popup that said it was installing a driver for the unit.
Regardless, if the DVD player is compatible and I think that is about 99% sure, then when you have it plugged in, go into Finder and down at the bottom left side you should see "Remote Disc" under Devices. IF you have a playable DVD/CD in the drive, clicking on Remote Disc should start it up.
At least it does on my MBA.
