Safari quit unexpectedly while using the .quickcardsand.tmp plugin

Hi Guys -

We're having some issues with our safari application quiting unexpectedly. Recently our Microsoft Office for Mac quit on us as well. I believe I have to purchase the new updated version as I have updated my OS recently. Though it did work recently with the new software.

My main concern is this safari issue. It looks like the prompt is coming from this: .quickcardsand.tmp

Though I cannot locate the file anywhere on my machine. Here's a photo of the prompt when my safari closes:

Can you help? Do I need new software or an update?
Anyone aware of this quickcards?

You are infected with the flashback trojan. Run software update and make sure you get the java security update. That will remove the malware. Change all of your online passwords and watch your accounts for unauthorized activity. Go to Safari>preferences>security> and un check "enable java". You're good to go.

No. After you run software update and clear the malware just go into safari preferences and turn java off, follow the path I posted above.

.quickcardsand.tmp

Your Mac is infected with the flashback trojan but it's relatively easy to remove.

Installing this update should remove the trojan variants > Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 8

Restart your Mac after the update is installed and try Safari.

If it crashes again, use ths removal tool > Flashback Removal Tool - F-Secure Weblog : News from the Lab

Carolyn & Mike -

You guys have been great! I have installed the update and un-clicked the "java" box in preferences.

Since doing this, we had an Adobe Flash Update pop-up show on our screen this evening. Is this at all connected to the virus? Should I now look to do the Removal Tool?

A new update (version 11.2.202.233) of the adobe flash plugin was just released (at least it appeared on the macupdate page just today).

Carolyn,

I just encountered this same problem myself and I am very frustrated. How do I upload Java if I can't stay on Safari longer than 5 seconds? I tried downloading another web browser but it is not letting me either. I appreciate any and all help.😢
