Dropping Cellular Connection

I've got a 4G iPad, the 64GB version. On wifi it works perfectly always but on the cellular connection it's a mystery. If I come out of a wifi zone and try to use the cellular data connection it won't work. If I power cycle the iPad it works again. This only seems to happen when I switch from wifi to cellular. Any ideas ??
