How to move pictures from iMac to SD card?

I have a new imac with an SD slot on the side. When I plug the SD card into the side it imports to iphoto automatically but I am having trouble reversing the process. I have opened iphoto and the SD card in finder, drug the pics from iphoto to the card, they show up in finder as jpegs but when I unmount the card and then plug it back in iphoto says that there are no valid files on the card. The pics are there in finder but cant be opened by iphoto. My camera (Canon Rebel T2i) also does not recognize that there are any pics on the card. I need to be able to send pics back to my spare SD card for printing purposes... what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your help.

Locate & highlight the photos you want to export in iPhoto - File - Export and follow the prompts. I would also recommend bookmarking and using the iPhoto Tutorials located at:

I just tried it that way instead and came up with the same results. Finder recognizes that the pics are on the card but the SD card reader on the mac does not. My camera also does not recognize that there are any pics on the card.

Your post unfortunately doesn't make much sense, if Finder can see photos on the card they're on the card! My guess is you may need a little training and should probably drop by your local Apple Store and have a visit with a Genius. Bring your camera and a card and the Genuis will help you out. If you don't have an Apple Store close by then I'd recommend calling AppleCare and someone can coach you over the phone.

I know it makes no sense. Finder is the only thing that can "see" the images. They don't exist when you put the card in the reader, in iphoto, in my camera, at the printing kiosk, etc. Finder knows they're on the card but nothing else recogizes that they are there. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is happening. I have an apple store near me but don't want to drag everything in if its a simple fix that someone here may be able to help with.

You don' t need to take your system in, just bring your camera in, tell the Genius what you're experiencing at home and they can walk you through it.
