Orphaned mailbox

One of my Smart mailboxes in mail.app just turned into an "Orphaned Mailbox" I tried to delete it but it will not allow me to. I was able to rename it, but it still kept the "orphaned mailbox" title ahead of the new name. How can I get rid of this (and where did it come from?).
