Floating Gallery Widget- Images on a Page

Is it anchored?

Look in the toolbar - anchoring requires two objects. Anchoring doesn't mean to the page, it means to something else, another object on the page.

Use iBA's Help on: anchor ...pick 'objects overview' from the hits.

That object is linked to text on that page.....iBA Help has this to say about that

On a book page, an object is either inline, anchored, or floating. Objects you add in iBooks Author are either anchored or floating by default. You can follow the steps below to add an object as an inline object, or to change an object from one type to another after you add it.

You can place an anchored or inline object anywhere on a page with text on it. Each anchored or inline object has a marker ( or ) that indicates the text the object is associated with.

1. Select the object.
2. Do one of the following:
   • In the format bar: Click Inline, Floating, or Anchored.If the format bar isn’t visible, choose View > Show Format Bar.
   • In the Wrap inspector: Click one of the Object Placement buttons.If the Wrap inspector isn’t open, click Inspector in the toolbar and click the Wrap Inspector button.

If the controls for changing the object type are dimmed, it might be because you’re in portrait orientation. Try switching to landscape. Or try adding a title, label, or caption to the object and then converting it.

Reposition an anchored or inline object

You can place an anchored or inline object anywhere on a page with text on it.

• To reposition an anchored object: Drag the object or its marker to the text you want to associate the object with.When the object’s associated text moves to another page (because of changing content), the object moves to the same position on the new page.
  Important: You can move an anchored object (or its marker) only in landscape orientation.
• To reposition an inline object: Drag the object, or cut and paste the object’s marker to a new location.

Works for me on one page....no way on the next - smells like a bug....

I'm having this problem repeatedly but somewhat randomly with (uncaptioned) video widgets. Sometime after I preview them to the iPad they resize themselves and slip down the page, covering the separate text box beneath.

(I'm working on a landscape-only children's picture book with large images and video widgets that are "captioned" by text boxes. The static image-and-text-boxes pages keep their size and position, but the 6 widget-and-text-boxes pages go rogue.)

I've been trying to anchor the widgets to their text box captions but haven't been able to access the Object Achoring menu with the widget selected.

I can re-fix the six pages before I submit the ebook file to Apple, but I'm worried that they will slip during the review process, or worse yet, eventually slip on the consumer.

Any news or help appreciated. I want the ebook to be enhanced, with video widgets, and read-aloud audio widgets.

PS I forgot to mention that the video widgets are positioned so that about 10% of the lower inside margin of the object is below the page area and "invisible."

It just occured to me that if I group all the objects on the page--ie group the video widget with its supporting separate text box(es)--that might perma-fix the widget size and position on the page. Anyone else tried this?

Oh, how much worse this is for you with 400 widgets!

Thanks very much for the info that you've spoken with them and that it's a bug (and the grouping approach didn't work, obv), so I'll stop wasting time on re-fixing and re-testing my previews.

My book is only a 32-page picture book with 6 video widgets, but the six videos are important to the plot, and it wouldn't be much of an "enhanced ebook" without them.

I was also planning to use subcutaneous audio widgets hidden under small image-object "buttons" for the read-aloud function. If these audio widgets slip down then their overlayed "Read to Me" buttons won't work. Yikes--I expect they're vulnerable as we now have confirmed Gallery and Video widget slippage.

Hoping they fix it soon! I will keep getting emails to this thread for any good news.
