App download stuck at "Waiting..."

Just recived my shiny new "new iPad" (horrible name) today, and have been happily using it for 3 hours.

Suddently after downloading a few apps one of the apps stops downloading at 0% with the progress saying "waiting"

I was pretty amazed that a 3 hour old factory default settings, iPad break like this.

Anyway, I can see this is a known issue that have been around for quite some time on both the iPhone and iPad but there is not a single post highligting a fix to the problem so ill ask the question. How do i fix this?

I have tried restaring the iPad

I have tried resetting the iPad (holding down home and lock for 10sec)

I have tried loggin out of the app store and back in on the iPad

I have tried syncing the iPad with my laptop.

non of the above work.

Hi

I had a similar thing on my i-phone. I plugged it into the my computer opened itunes. Under the sync options under the i-PHONE device in i-TUNES,

  • unchecked the apps that were stuck in waiting.
  • Click on apply
  • sync phone with i-TUNES on computer
  • turned phone off and on
  • checked the app (that I unchecked earlier)
  • click apply
  • sync phone with i-TUNES on computer
  • turned phone off then on

The app no longer was stuck in waiting.

Hope this helps

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

If that doesn't work:

• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.

• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.

• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

 Cheers, Tom 😉

check your itunes download queue. I had 18 items stuck and it did not try to download anything before I cleared that. I had the same problem with apps stuck in waiting and had tried reboot and deleting the app and retry but what finally solved the issue was clearing the iTunes download queue.

Good luck everyone.

This fixed my issue completely. I had set icloud to redownload all my music content the other day and didn't realize that this would stop the apps from downloading until all the music was finished updating on my iPhone 5. The real issue is that there's no real notification that your apps are being stalled because of the music downloads unless you open up iTunes separately and look at your queue. Thanks for the help! This really took care of a major headache!
