Half notes show up as eighth notes when viewed as score

I'm on Garageband 09, and when I make a half note next to a string of eighth notes, the half note appears as an eighth note. It also appears as a quarter note when by itself sometimes. When I click on the note, a green bar shows how long the note is supposed to last for, and it is always the length of a half note, even though it appears as a different note. I want to print out sheet music, but I can't if all of the half notes aren't appearing correctly. Is there a way to fix this?

Music notation does not mirror the exact length of a note. Imagine staccato quarter notes, e.g., if the program would show these with their real length, as 16ths, for example, you wouldn't be able to read your score. So GB makes "educated guesses" as to how to notate the notes, and it guessed differently than you would have. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about that, some things are improved if you change the grid size in the editor window.

If you post an example (screenshot) we might help you in a more detailed way!
