Can MacBook Air & Lion use Internet Key in Italy and TIM?

Would like to buy a MacBook Air to take to Italy. In Italy, I would like to use the USB port for an Internet Key from TIM (Telecom Italia), so that I can get online. Where I will be living does not have WIFI, so I need to know before I get there how I'm going to get online. A search revealed some issues with Lion and TIM, but I found entries dating back to October and November 2011. Hope that means the problem of connecting Lion to TIM is now solved, but how might I find out for sure? TIM is the major player in phones and internet connections, so I want to use TIM.
