Oct 24, 2012 7:07 PM in response to JonnyITokyoby EvanInSydney,I'm having exactly the same issue - most of the time my MBA's keyboard and trackpad will stop working when it resumes. I've tried changing the hibernate settings without any luck, running Mountain Lion but never had the issue with Lion on its own.

Oct 24, 2012 9:12 PM in response to JonnyITokyoby Leonardo Cohen, update: my issue was gone for a few weeks and now back. I tried to be very careful and log any new sotware, system update or settings that was changed but no able to track the issue into anything specific.
I arrived in Istanbul a few days ago (working on ther bid for the 2020 Olympic Games) and hav been usig my Mac Book Air only (back at home I do use my MBP 17" almost all the time...) and almost as I started to use the Mac Book Air on a daily basis, I have been suffering with this plague...
It is quite amazing we are having this issue.....but I suspect that only a machine replacement or motherboard replacment will fix this.....never saw a solution anywhere.....so far........by changing or updating whatever in Mac OS X.
:-(
Hope some of you guys can find a solution that will help all of us..

Oct 25, 2012 12:38 PM in response to Leonardo Cohenby GizmoIOS,Same thing... no WMare... new MacBook Retina keyboard & trackpad inactive after resuming from sleep mode. need an external mouse to reboot softly. Only installed xcode and Unity 3D 3.5.6.

Oct 25, 2012 2:41 PM in response to GizmoIOSby fith,In your case it's Unity. I had the same problem, though intermittently.
Thinking its similar to the VMwate issues since Unity runs a kind of VM.

Oct 26, 2012 3:35 PM in response to Leonardo Cohenby z-hane,I took my MBA back to Genius bar again on Monday and hardware diagnostic tools found the problem with keyboard this time. So they replaced system board for free since mine is still under warranty. This is the only way to fix. I definately did not expect MBA to be this fragile.

Oct 27, 2012 3:14 AM in response to JonnyITokyoby Leonardo Cohen,I can confirm that, at least in my and similar cases, there is no solution other then a hardware replacement.
My keyboard and trackpad would freeze...but USB and the power button were always available and working.
So, unfortunately, there is no easy / soft fix for this. It is a hardware malfunction.
Very unfortunate.
Cheers

Oct 28, 2012 10:36 AM in response to jpacs2007by juanfer10_,Same here with me, i never had this problem with lion, it started since ML DP.
I have tried, resetting SMC and PRAM with no luck.
And how is it gonna be hardware issue when back in Lion never had that problem?
unless, you are saying that mountain lion messed up my hardware

Nov 24, 2012 5:39 PM in response to JonnyITokyoby dshannon4296,So I have seen this happening to a lot of people. I don't know if a hardware replacement fixes the problem, but I reset my macbook to original factory settings from the disc that came with it. Everything started working fine. I haven't had anymore problems until recently right after installing Lion. I think this is my root problem.

Dec 10, 2012 8:16 AM in response to JonnyITokyoby aRock10,Although this may not be the most pratical fix for everyone and others have reported it didn't solve the issue but I totally wiped my MBAir and reinstalled Mountain Lion. I haven't had the issue.

Dec 10, 2012 8:48 AM in response to JonnyITokyoby Leonardo Cohen,I found the solution to my case....
By doing this:
Solved this by doing TWO things:
1) Deleting the google service as per the below info
2) Make sure that any other USB devices (in our case a Suunto MovesLink USB device) are disconnected and the software is stopped completely.
google services to be removed and location:
/Library/LaunchAgents:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 788 Jul 27 12:51 com.google.keystone.agent.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 814 Jul 27 12:51 com.google.keystone.daemon.plist
More info can be found here, including other situations with other apps:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4315898?start=15&tstart=0
Thanks to all for the ongoing attempts!
I was about to replace the entire motherboard and it would, probably, get back.. the sitiation above is related to Mac OS X 10.8.x and some apps / extensions etc

Dec 25, 2012 7:04 PM in response to JonnyITokyoby John Chile,I had the same issue. I have a MBP Retina 15" with Mac OS X 10.8.2.
Does someone from Apple confirmed this is a known hardware issue?
-
Jan 3, 2013 11:44 AM in response to JonnyITokyoby calebd18,Had same issue on 2009 MacBook Air w/ OSX 10.8.2
I went to 'System Preferences', 'Users', and 'Login Items' and deleted some login items that, in my case, were related to a recent install of Crossover.
Problem hasn't come up since. Hope this helps.

Apr 27, 2013 8:57 AM in response to JonnyITokyoby Fildo,So I've been having this issue since I installed Unity. My keyboard and trackpad would become totally unresponsive after a screen lock or resume from sleep (rarely, but at least once a week). Today I had the bright idea to plug in a USB mouse... all of a sudden I had full mouse control through USB AND the trackpad. Keyboard came back as well.
Not sure if this helps, but I sure was happy to get back in so I could save my work.
