Apr 17, 2012 1:20 AM in response to LJPBby LJPB,Just to clarify, I want to download the new Mac OS X update which is about 1GB. With my connection, it will take days. I downloaded the program iGetter but it doesn't seem to sync with Software Update. Any ideas?

BTW, don't upgrade to Lion, the only way to reinstall the OS is via the Internet or a $69 USB thumb drive, but then you still need the updates.

We can't do it for you, because we all have different hardware specs.

Don't download with Software Update. Use SU to find out what updates need to be applied, make a list, then go to
<http://support.apple.com/downloads/>
and download what you need; eg, the 10.6.8 Combo update is here
<http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399>
You can use whatever browser and download manager you normally use. Once downloaded, install it as any other software.
However, if the connection is bad and slow, there's a chance that the file will be corrupted during download. You might have to try several times. Use https instead of http, and compare the downloaded file's checksum with Apple's. Here's how
