What do you mean by it's not working? What happens when you try to sync the device with iTunes? Are you getting any error messages before or during the sync process? Does the iPod appear in iTunes?

My ipod appears in itunes and it shows all the info. When I try to move music or video from the computer to the ipod it just gives me the Owith a line through it. Not allowing me to transfer. Or it said it transfered but put it in a seperate file to my computer. No error messages.
Ok here's what I've just found. When I plug into the computer it shows computer Barbara's I (F) as that's the port it's pluged into on the computer. I find all the files I've been sending to the ipod there and the ipod is acting as it's playing while attached to the computer. UGH. Idea's.
It sounds like you are trying to manually manage your iPod's contents. If that is the case, you'll want to make sure the Manually manage music and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes.
See this article for more help and information on manaully managing your iPod's contents.

Ok I checked this and it was already checked. I unchecked hit apply then rechecked and hit apply and still nothing. Thanks for the help tho. I think it might have something to do with the latest update it did because it alowed me to do this before. Now I can't get an older version to work on my computer. Thank goodness my husbands computer lets me do this.
Well if you are still getting the line with a circle through it when trying to drag content over onto your iPod Classic, that's usually an indication that the file type is not supported on the iPod.
Maybe try restoring your iPod to factory settings and starting from scratch would help.

Well I would agree with the restoring idea if the second computer with the older version of itunes didn't work as well, but it does. I have way to much on my ipod to dump and try to put back on. That could take a whole day to do. I've never gotten the sync to work properly since I bought it and that's why I do everything manually.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to disable the updates for itunes as I think that is the problem at this point and will only make things worse.
Sounds good. Best of luck. 😉
