How about combining the 2 apple ids, so he's using just one. Can you do that?
Unfortunately no, you can't combine, join or consolidate two Apple IDs into one.
You'll have to maintain seperate libraries for each.
I want to sync my app purchases on my iPad and iPhone, but have separate apple ids for each device. how can I change my apple id on my iPad to the same apple I'd I have on my iPhone??? I just downloaded an app on my iPad which I had already purchased the full version on my iPhone, and now to get the full version, I Have to pay again...
I have the same problem
@ Anjila. You can go to Settings > Store - from there you can change your Apple ID to match the account on your iPhone.
But yeah, Apple IDs cannot be merged. Apple ID FAQ: http://support.apple.com/kb/he37
What's particularly frustrating about this issue is that some time ago when I was experiencing update problems in iTunes, the tech support person gave me the recommendation of just changing to a new Apple ID. This is when the problem started for me. It was all pre-iphone/ipad and when the iTunes app store, icloud, etc where all a nascent (and probably secretive) apple dream.
If I could go back to that moment, I'd've asked the apple support person to escalate the issue but what did I know? And how could I have known that it would be the trouble it is today? So, each time I updated apps, i have to switch between two id's All in all, the expenditure to replace all of those apps and consolidate under one id is minimal. The expensive ones are on my correct id. I might be out around $20 give or take. Wait a minute....now it all makes sense...😉
