Recent Java Update - Unclear Instructions

On the DeskTop currently -

The Update Panel - For JAVA for MAC OS X 10.6 Update 8

This Java security update removes the most common variants of the Flashback malware.

I have scanned my system a few times over the last month, and nothing is ever found.

If you do not use Java applets, it is recommended that you disable the Java web plug-in in your web browser.

This update is recommended for all Mac users with Java installed.

The unclear of it - there's no 1-2-3- steps of when to do this, at what stage to do this - totally unclear as to -

Disable Java first - Update First, I find these instruction nothing but making issues worse to truly understand.

Why would instructions include a statement -

If you do use Java appletts, it is recommended that you disable the Java web plug-in in your web browser ?????

How about Apple simply tell me up front what I do have running, make it fool proof if wrong step is tried.

Even Adobe is smart enough during updates to say. you need to do this step first.

My MacPro is running fine, on Safari 5.1.4, and see no functional reason to update anything.

where as also in the update panel -

Safari 5.1.5 contains improvements to usability and stability, including changes that:

• Fix an issue that could affect website usability when running Safari in 32-bit mode
• Fix an issue that could affect the stability of Software Update on Mac OS X Server v10.6.8

I never see these issues in support that they always seem to incite.

A global search has zero results.

I have trouble believing what the real intent is. Or they should show the links posted by us.
