Macbook Pro 15 sound not working

I have a Macbook Pro 15" 2010, with Lion 10.7.3. As of Yesterday I have no sound! Through the internal speaker and headphone. Anybody knows how to resolve it?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Is the speaker icon on the menu bar greyed out? If you option+click the speaker icon on the menu bar what options do you have under 'Output device'? Which one is selected? Look into the headphone socket, can you see a red light?

Speaker icon - volume control moves. Preference = Sound is not Mute. Another information: I maged to connect a USB speaker device, select the device in the Preferences ➜ Sound ➜ Output and Control the volume from the icon. But still no sound from internal Speakers and Headphone.

I've had this same problem going on for awhile, and it's not an isolated incident. I've read on many, many forums of a lot of MBs having this same issue. I wish Apple would figure out a real fix and distribute it.

Apparently the headphone jack is stuck in digital/optical mode or something... I've found that I if I plug in my earbuds, open the sound preferences panel, then unplug the ear buds, it works again. Like it's resetting the digital switch in the input jack.
