ok, next question....rx2

I have been reading about importing them to the esx24, however I keep reading that this MIGHT be contingent upon having recycle. That doesn't make sense to me since it's already a rx2 file.

I've tried a variety of ways to import the file, but absolutely no luck. the best I've done is getting to the file and then getting a "what kind of file is this?" error.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it a bug or something else?

Open up an Exs24. Then, select >edit. In the new window select Instrument>Recyle convert. Now you need to select a conversion type (Is this where you are having problems?).

See the manual for specifics.

Recycle is the only way to create *.rx2 files from an audio file. If you already have the rex files, you don't need recycle.

I mainly use *rx2 files to create instruments in the Exs24. I also convert *.rx2 files to apple loops and I am not having any issues.

I can get that far but that area is always greayed
out, all the other methods result in a "what kinda
file is this" message.

"that". Which area are you talking about? Try to add your *rx2 files to the arrange window and convert them to apple loops. Does that work?
Or, try opening up your *.rx2 files in Dr. Rex player in Reason. Alternatively, download the Recycle demo and open the demo *.rx2 files in Logic.

This is very odd. Logic should have no problems recongizing the *.rx2 files.

I've narrowed it down to it having a problem with the rex shared library not being found.

audio finder says recycle is not installed

recycle only allows for it's built-in loops

logic keeps saying it can't find the "library", which I assume is the rex shared library.

I have downloaded all the versions of that library and placed them in the supposedly appropriate folder.

I am starting to guess this is a coreduo thing ("hopped on too quick I believe, patience I must have")

If you have any more suggestions, let me know.........

no, I only have the rewire in my propellerhead folder.

This is one of three reasons........I believe

-macintel/no proper install as of yet
-something is installed improperly
-I don't have a proper application (i.e. I don't own reason)

However, audio finder sould be a rex loop player.....it didn't work at all

I don't have any reason/recycle on my pc, and I could play rex files on it (although it's put up right now)

So, I'm thinking macintel.....................

any other thoughts?

I´m having the same problem as you are. The choises in the "Recycle Convert" menu are greyed out in the EXS24 Instrument Editor, and I can only open .rex, not .rx2 files in the sample editor. I don´t have Recycle, just a few rex/rx2 files off some sample cds.

I have checked and rechecked all the settings and where things are, seems to be up to date and in properplaces.

I installed the reason demo, but it performed like ableton did before a "universal" version came out. It just would not run at all.

I have also had rewire issues of the same problem

I also downloaded the demo of recycle, which is useless because you can't import. btw, propellerhead doesn't really plan on updating anytime soon to universal, if ever.

This reminds me of trying to get non-universal au's to register.........they just won't because logic/mac doesn't "see" them for obvious reasons.

So I am forced to conclude that this is propellerheads problem, which means we are screwed.......I wan't to be wrong.......PLEASE, prove me wrong:)

It's not a screw up by the propellerheads.

The Universal Binary of the "Rex Shared Library" isn't released. In fact, there aren't many Rewire product that have been released as a UB.

You're going to have to wait until a UB of Reason, or Recycle is available. This should straighten out any current issues.

(Note: Rewire only works when both programs are run using the Rosetta emulation. Also, it will not be useable for time critical applications (i.e., it is basically unusable)
