Help with iCal! Version 5.0.2
I am going crazy with iCal--I cannot get the entries or the grid lines to show--they are extremely faint, which renders the application almost un-useable. This is on a new Mac Pro.
Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Greetings Leslie,
It sounds like you might be describing an invitation from another person.
Questions:
The grid lines in iCal are a light gray (see this public article for reference: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2513).
If what you see on your screen does not match that article, please provide a screen shot so we can see the behavior.
Cheers.
I don't even use the invitation function. I am accustomed to using iCal, and never had this problem on my old Mac Pro. I've included a screen shot, but not sure if it's going through...
iCal under Lion looks different than prior versions of iCal. As long as you've viewed the article I referenced and your screen looks different than the article's picture then we can proceed.
-- Side note: To attach an image to your post click the little "Camera" button at the top of your reply window and then choose the screen shot on your desktop.
Try:
1. First make an iCal backup: Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
--- NOTE: To get to "Home > Library" in Lion: Click anywhere on the desktop and then click on the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen while holding down the "option" key on the keyboard. You will see "Library" in the menu.
4. Launch iCal and test.
If the issue persists:
1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
--- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
3. Launch iCal and test.
Hope that helps.
Hi I have this problem too. The grid lines, date and time numbers are so faint that they are impossible to see on my new Macbook Air. Never had this problem on any other Mac or version of iCal. Changing the contrast/brightness does not help. And the advice above didn't either, I'm afraid. It's a design issue.
I have the same problem. The grid lines and numerical date of month are very light and I can barely read them. Is there a way to darken the grid lines and dates in ical?
thanks
Peter
