I have a critical update to install for Microsoft Office. SyncServicesAgent and Microsoft Database Daemon will NOT close. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I ahve a critical update to install for Microsoft Office. Unfortuantely SyncServices Agent and Microsoft Database Daemon will NOT shut down. Any guidance, thoughts, and or advice would begreatly appreciated.

Go to Spotlight, type in Activity Monitor, select that to enter Activity Monitor. You should see SyncServicesAgent and Microsoft Database Daemon. Select each one and hit the x button above to Quit or Force Quit each one. However, I am using Mavericks and I had to try that several times because they kept re-starting and re-appearing before I could get the update installing. I brought the installer onto the same screen and quickly hit it before the SyncServicesAgent and Microsoft Database Daemon re-appeared. It eventually worked and updated. Microsoft could have done better!
