Q: How can i transfer playlists between 2 different ipods?

I have two iPod Nano (3 gen). One of them my daughter happened to drop into a pool so the screen stopped working.

Is there anyway to "copy" a  playlist from the "broken" iPod to the other fully functional iPod?

I have tried to use the "Export playlist" / "Import Playlist" option but that dosent work at all? Or is itunes so (sorry) "Stupid" made that we have to make new playlist on the fully functional iPod and ad song after song, it will take hours to make the lists identical, there must be som easier way?

Please help!

Hm. Where did your daugther's iPod sync to? The iTunes library which synced with your daughter's device must already hold the correct playlsts (provided you synced lately with her iPod). You can sync that iTunes library to the functional iPod to transfer the playlists.

Note that any music form the functional iPod which was not already on your daughter's iTunes will be removed from the device upon sync.

Both iPod is synced recently with the same library.

When i try to Export the playlists from my doughter's iPod the exported files are empty no matter what file type I choose. So when i import the file the playlist are being added to my iTunes library but with no song in it at all..

    There is nothing to export.

Connect iPod B, tell it what to sync and sync.

iDevices never sync to one another, they sync to computers.

From your own statements, the playlist already exists in iTunes on the computer.

Connect the second iPod and tell iTunes to sync the playlist in question to the device.

If the playlist is not in iTunes and the original device is no longer detected by iTunes or has completely failed, there is no way to recover the playlist.  This is one of the reasons why regular syncs to iTunes are important.

The "damaged" iPod is detected by iTunes and i can add playlists, songs, movies and i can still use the ipod allthoug the screen does not work.

The iPod i synced with iTunes but all the playlists on the iPod are not to be found in my iTunes library..

I tested this on my iPhone creating a playlist on the device and then syncing.  The playlist did not sync to iTunes.  That leads me to believe that it is not intended to do so.

The only option may be to manually recreate the playlist in iTunes.  If it had actually been created in iTunes to begin with this would be a non-issue... then again, hindsight is 20/20.

You can use iCloud Backup to backup your previous device and then restore the backup to a new device. Your saved messages, email accounts, photos, notes, and other personal settings will transfer like music from iPod to iPod to your new device.

    1. Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.

    2. Turn on iCloud Backup.

    3. Tap Back Up Now.

    4. Wait until the backup finishes. How long it will take depends on how big the backup is and how fast your Internet connection is.

    5. Choose Restore from iCloud Backup from the new one.

    6. Enter your Apple ID and password.

    7. Choose the backup of your old device and tap Restore. Wait until the device finishes restoring from the backup.
