Q: New iTunes security questions

Hello,

iTunes is now asking me to fill in 3 security questions: http://s19.postimage.org/5jz0q6pr7/apple_sec_ques.jpg

1. How can i still use iTunes store and NOT use these security questions?

Why would i not want to use them? Well, i prefer to use a password only i know, not use insecurity questions like "whats your first car?" It's not hard for a whole bunch of people to know that one. Setting these insecurity questions is just giving anyone that vaguely knows me free and easy assess to my account. I DO NOT WANT THAT!

2. How do i make iTunes stop asking my account password every time i want to play songs, download something, or do basically anything in iTunes? It's really irritating to have to put in my password 50 times a week (and nobody else uses this computer.)

So,  how weird is this?......I can't use my latest Apple ID password to buy anything on iTunes because it didn't work.  HOWEVER,  I was able to get on this message board tonight by using the EXACT same sign in password.  What gives?   ...Or in this case....gives not when it comes to it working on my iPhone in iTunes?   I think demons have infested Apple digital airways.

Try to log out the registered ID from Settings>Store, the logout button should be there, then sign in again.

I'm only 13 and it's asking me what my first car was and what car has been my favorite and I've never owned a car and I never made these questions. Someone help, I entered a $50 gift card and I can't take it off and just make a new account.

    Rowalda, and EthanPerry,

Probably your best way is to contact Apple Support directly, through their 'email' web page.

That's here: https://expresslane.apple.com/ServiceOptionAction.action, and you can explain exactly your problem on the form.

This forum does not have Apple people on it - and they claim not to read it. The people here are others with problems or offering what worked for them -- ordinary persons who use Apple products.

Good fortune to both of you.

I am old, I have no idea what my favourite teachers name was, or if I went to school and why does everyone have a pet.  I cannot remember the answer to any of these so I am going to be making this up and writting them down somewhere making it far less secure.  I also object to anyone asking for my birth year when it is totally unnecassry.  There is enough info out there about me as it is.

Why cant i type in my own questions and answers like most sites?  I got so angry after coming home from a long day, trying to download a movie so I can veg out then having to try and get throught this!!!

These kind of security questions are getting everywhere. Ridiculous!!! IT people are having to much time on their own, so they are trying to annoy real people....

Is everyone contacting Apple under support to complain about this? I think that this forum is great to identify and share issues, but at least filling their feedback box under "contact us" in super tiny font at the bottom of Apple's webpage might make a difference, at least sooner? Just a thought..couldn't hurt.

No, I don't expect they will be changing this any time soon.  But I hear a certain other store whose name rhymes with glamazon also sells music for .99

The problem with contacting Apple, which I have done three times now, is they spew out the same form information every time. "You're having trouble setting your security questions? Follow these instructions". No matter how many times you explain it to them they send the same information back. I asked the last time for my message to be forwarded to someone higher up and when I eventually received a reply from a manager was given once again the same information aout how to set the secrity questions, but this time with the added bonus of a list of reasons why using them is making my account safer.

ive been ****** off with the stupid security since they made me change my password to one that contains atleast 1 uppercase letter and atleast 1 number! I DONT WANT A PASSWORD WITH AN UPPERCASE LETTER OR ANY FLAMING NUMBERS!!

What a load of bollocks! why dont they let us decide on how secure we want OUR accounts!

This is one of the weirdest implementations of a security system I've seen in a long time.

It basically forces people to pick bad answers to strictly defined questions -- which means short and easily crackable, or random and easily forgettable answers.

The thing that makes this impossible for me is that many of the choices are not even options for me.  Being almost 40, how could I remember my favorite childhood movie (I grew up 1 hour out of the nearest city, and limited TV)?  The city my parents met? Really???

I cannot refresh the list of questions without going out and then back in.

In the 5 times I’ve tried there is no 3 out of 5 option that works for me.

So, my only choice is to write the answers down.  Good security!!
