Integration Basics Exam 10.7 - Question for those who know

Hey all,

I am recently studying to start working on my Mac Certifications. This is on my own time just for betterment of myself and to hopefully come in handy in the future with employment in a Mac related field.

I'm preparing to take the exam, but one question has me a bit confused so I'm hoping someone can help me out.

In the section 9 on Cross-platform Compatibility it says OS X Lion can run Windows via Boot Camp for Windows operating systems such as Vista and Windows 7. Yet on the OS X Lion FAQ here on the apple support site, it says Windows 7 only required.

My question is: Can Lion in boot camp, for the purpose of the exam, would it be Windows 7 only, or should I go with Vista? I know older versions of OS X could do XP and above, but XP is no longer relevant really, but I didn't want to screw up this with conflicting information.

Should I go by the book and assume Vista, or go by what I've read on the Apple FAQ on the site and say Windows 7 only where Lion 10.7 and Bootcamp is involved?

Thanks again for anyone that takes the time to help me out. 🙂 Greatly appreciated!

First things first. A google search for boot camp lion site:apple.com gives http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4818 as its first hit. Therein, it says:

Which versions of Windows work with Boot Camp 4.0?

You can use Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, or Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate with Boot Camp 4.0. Windows XP and Windows Vista are not supported with Boot Camp 4.0.

Thanks,

Yes that was my issue. When looking it up online, I found exactly what you pointed out. However in the Mac Integration Basics 10.7 Exam Study Guide, it says and I quote:

"Every new Mac lets you install Windows operating systems such as Vista and Windows 7 and run them at native speeds, using a built-in utility called Boot Camp."

This is why I just wanted to check, because it didn't make much sense. The guide mentions Vista, but the website says 7.

I will just go with 7, since that's what the site says. It just threw me for a loop that the book mentioned Vista is all.

Thanks for your reply.
