I have a HP LaserJet 3380 for some time and never experienced any problem. Lately my IMac just cannot communicate with the printer.
The photocopy function still works though. I have tried to reset and add printer (even have update the HP software install) but still doesn't work.
Any recommendation?

Is the printer connected to the iMac via usb or wirelessly?
that's via usb. I thought I can add the printer and iMac automatically can search the required software driver.
the problem came up not sure this was due to: I updated the latest HP printer installer software (through Apple update), or I accidentally deleted/change some setting.

It seems to have happened when I installed Mountain Lion (was it worth it?). I also have tried to reset and add printer (even have update the HP software install) but still doesn't work.
In System Preferences > Print & Fax > ... select your printer then re-add it to the printer list.
