iTunes could not connect to this iPod because anknown error

every time connect my ipod to itunes its says that error. Because i had no space at all and it went unrespondsive it wont respond to anything i have tried resetting it by holding the home + sleep/power and itune dose not register it so it dosen't give me the option to restore it and the only time it turns of is when it runs out of battery because when i charge it it has the the normal apple logo and then it gose into the loading sreen indefinately of the little curcle full of bars
