Method 1: Close the Page, then Quit Safari. Hopefully it doesn't came up again.

Method 2: Go to Safari-> Preferences-> And change Home Page to apple.com

Method 3: When you are on your Desktop (Finder) Go to: Go-> Go to folder, then type ~/Library/Preferences and Go. Then drag com.apple.Safari.plist to the trash, while Safari is closed. WARNING: This delete all Safari settings.

If the problem is not solved try repairing disk permissions with disk utility, google for RootkitHunter or download the free Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac from Mac AppStore and check for Problems.

There are RootKits in the wild, but all need user ainteraction like asking for the credentials. Some users give the credentials and have rootkits or Trojans installed.

There are no rootkits for Macs. Trojans, yes, and malware like Flashback that acts more like a virus than a trojan but doesn't strictly fit either category. But no rootkits. See my Mac Malware Guide.

@Tq1, there's almost certainly no malware involved in your case, just hold down the shift key when you open Safari to prevent it from trying to re-open the pages that were open when it quit.
