I am so sick of entering my password for iCloud email.

I have tried everything including deleting the icloud account on mail and re-creating it. There times when that password prompt pops up over and over.

Please fix this apple! Its annoying! Not only that it does it with mail we have setup on our OSX Lion Server as well.

Thank you!

Amen.

It is seriously broken. Going to disable it and move on with my life.

If I were to have amnesia I would still remember my iCloud password because I've entered it like a million times by now. This has become my daily routine. Entering password whenever Mail starts jumping like crazy. Using iCloud is highly recommended if you have low blood pressure.

The problem is not with iCloud e-mail, but with the Mail application itself. I can log into iCloud and us my e-mail without problem. It is when I try to work through the Mail app through iCloud that there is a problem. BTW, the Mail app is working fine with my "outside" accounts.

I spent over three hours on the phone with Apple Support with three different tech supports reps, including two "senior" reps and the problem is still not completely resolved. iCloud is now "reloading" all my e-mails, but this has now been going on for almost two hours with no sign of abating. I'm supposed to call back Apple Support "when and if anything changes." We'll see.

BTW, the "senior" tech said there were no history of cases like this.

I've been following this thread (not posting because I didn't have anything new to add), but it's so frustrating that the senior tech isn't even aware of this problem. I do like Apple very much - I think the good FAR outweighs the bad - and I like AppleCare and like the Genius Bar, but they do really seem to have a problem getting information out to their own people. I'm having the same issue since switching to iCloud (mail window frequently pops up asking for and rejecting my password) on my iMac ((Lion 10.7.3). I've reported this problem to both the Genius Bar (when I had the computer in for something else recently) and to AppleCare. I just called AppleCare last week and specifically asked if they had any new information on this issue. The person I talked to that time did seem to know about it and said the engineers were working on it, and that it was fine to call anytime to ask. Has everyone on this thread filed a bug report with Apple? It only takes a few minutes and it seems probable that the more they hear about it, the more likely they are to work on it and come up with a fix. (I know Carlos kindly posted a fix that worked for him, which is terrific. However, I'm not comfortable trying to fix it myself, even with good instructions, so I'm waiting on Apple.) It does seem to be not happening as frequently. It used to pop up 10-15 times a day and sometimes I'd have to enter the password four or five times in a row before the window would go away. Now it's more like five or six times a day, and I only have to enter it twice (sometimes only once). I figure I can live with that until they get it fixed, but it surely will be nice when they do.

I have the same problem. At home I have Lion and iCloud and 3 days ago (Apr 21) macmail stopped being online. I have tried everything including deleting the account in System Prerences>iCloud and restoring it.

When I am at work where i have MobileMe MacMail works perfectly.

*** Apple. You force us into Lion and iCloud to continue using our computers in the way we have become accustomed and now a fundamental application doesn't work and you guys have no knowledge or solution.

No wonder your stock dropped so much in the last couple of weeks. I know I am thinking about selling some of mine.

I just came here looking to gripe about the same thing.

Steve would have fired people by now. It's been horrible for weeks.

Happens every day, and I have clients calling me asking why they are having this issue. Doesn't seem to matter what kind of connection they are on.

It was happening to my dad, and Apple Support suggested changing the password. Once that was done, it resolved the issue for a day and then it went right back to this.

I'm currently at a hotel and it's refusing to let me check my mail. Every single day. Mobile devices work fine.

Put me on the top of the list.

I changed my password as required. It worked well for about a week and now I am right back to constantly getting the password request. Tried repairing the Keychain, no problems found. Other mail works fine.

It seems to help if I quit mail and reopen. About a 50% chance that will work for a small period of time.

This really needs to be fixed. No problems on my iPhone or iPad. Mail program seems to be the problem.

I just performed the new setup as suggested in the link here http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudmail.html and ensured that I could continue with a manual setup and not immediately to the create account. Of course, my account was properly set up and besides asking me for a password every 2 minutes on the p02... smtp server, I used the one as shown in the hyperlink enclosed and suggested by you. This works beautifully and thanks for your suggestions. I am very patient in nature, and I was experiencing this since we moved to the iCloud account last week. Of course, we accepted all default values and were blinded with the new features and other non documented annoyances too... I am back online (without logging into the mail server). My key chain works very nicely, and this problem is not mine anymore.

Now, I did file a bug report to Apple minutes before I read this post.

Thanks Carlos
