Apr 19, 2012 3:27 PM in response to Alec495by Bart1977,The only way I see you could get a similar chip is by checking out eBay and buying a second-hand logic board. You could get it elsewhere new/officially, but the pins might be different, so I wouldn't go that route.
Also, I guess you'd want that particular IC because you suspect it's the cause of a logic board failure? I'm curious as to how you narrowed it down to that IC?

Apr 19, 2012 5:00 PM in response to Csound1by Bart1977,Nice find! TS, be absolutely sure that it's the exact same IC packaging. Also, it's one of those BGA packages. TS should better be handy with a reflowing oven and correctly position the IC on the logic board. It's going to be a major hassle but it's been done before :-) Let us know if you succeed. Pics or it didn't happen :-)

Apr 19, 2012 5:04 PM in response to Alec495by Allan Eckert,Be prepared to remove the old chip which is soldered in without damaging the motherboard. Then to the new chip in if you ever find one without damaging either new chip or the motherboard.

And here we are, getting squeamish about changing a piddly RAM stick or an HDD....
