Q: i'm trying to run a DVD from my mac book pro to a projector. I can't get a picture and am using the AV cables for mac. Ideas?

I'm trying to run a DVD from my macbook pro to a projector. I am using apple AV connectors and still get no picture. Ideas?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
