Share one iTunes library on MAC and Windows

I want to be able to share one iTunes library that will be on a server between a MAC and a WIndows machine. I know you have to rename one of the library files but not sure about how to go about it. It will be a brand new library. Not moving anything. Anyone have any ideas or know how to go about doing this?

I guess thhe problem is that when i create the library on the mac iit works fine. If i then go to the pc and choose the exisint library i dont see anything with the .itl extention even though that is what it is looking for. There is only a file called itunes library. If i select it then i see the files i have added from the mac but I get the "!" error message.

The PC is set to show file extensions (I have very limited PC experience since they started using Windows insetead of DOS)?

The ! means the location indicated in the library does not match a file for that location. I wonder if this has something to do with differences in naming conventions. Again, I am not all that up on PCs but I recall discussions here in the past where a drive got assigned D: on one startup and E: on another and that messed up iTunes.
