Creating New Stationery Templates

Running Lion, how do you create new stationery templates for Mail? There are several articles in Google for Snow Leopard, et al, but nothing for Lion. Same in this Forum - everything regarding stationery seems to be 2-3 years old???

Also, where do the JPG's for the current stationery reside??

Thanks.

Actually, following your instructions, nothing happened?? :>) I did "File/New Message", selected "Format" from the top drop-down menu; selected both "Show Colors" and "Show Fonts"; clicked on the last rectangle image above the list of fonts; selected a color, and nothing changed. There must be a step missing??

Also, the "Add whatever art you want" seems to need an additional step??

Thanks for the reply.

I just ran across another article on this that i found extremely useful to create a custom stationary .. not for a novice but great for someone with a bit of knowledge on HTML .. but still very step-by-step oriented

http://gigaom.com/apple/how-to-create-edit-your-own-mail-stationery/

It walks through the set of files/directories/resources that make up the "stationary" templates

And don't worry you don't need to be a programmer .. just some quick simple edits in a text editor ..

Hey Mark, I spent an hour today on the phone with a really smart Apple Genius and we couldn't figure out the stationery issue you were working on previously. In your message on Sep 11 you said "here's the answer" but didn't mention what it was. The next person Courdin, offered a link to something. Was that the solution? Did you ever find the solution? I've been working on this off and on for years. The Apple Genius is working on this too. Look forward to hearing what you've learned.

Hi rbkj - I finally gave up on this project. I was able to duplicate the files on one of the templates that come with Mail, then I began to modify each with my own background, images, etc. I was able to get it to appear ONCE, and after that, nothing. The files seem so convoluted that I came to the conclusion they would rather sell new template packages than allow users to figure out how to create our own!!!! :>)
