Import From AVCHD Camera: Unreadable(Seemingly Empty Chip)

Camera: Sony NEX-FS100

Video Format: AVCHD

To import clips from this camera i've just been using "Import From Camera" in FCPX. Today I do that, see the chip however when i click it it shows nothing to import. There's 10g of video in that chip(I throw it back into the camera and can see them fine). I've tried putting it in other cameras, rebooting, reseting P-Ram and I'm not in proxy mode... Anyone got anything?

Thanks for the help & time guys!

Samsung camera?? Different manufacturers use slightly different variants of AVCHD and some of them aren't compatible with FCPX. I have this same problem with 1080/60i. Can't import it from file or camera — audio is there... no picture. (The 720/60p footage imports just fine though, either way.)

I use Quicktime 7 Pro to transcode the clips before importing them, however, if you don't have QT7Pro, there is a pretty good little converter on the App Store called Smart Converter (the free version is just fine) and it works converting my 1080 clips for FCPX. (It claims to make no changes to the actual video/audio data...in most cases, and from what I can tell, that's true enough.)

Have you imported to FCPX from that camera before?

I see the "create archive" button is active.... have you tried doing that, and then importing from the archive (if it makes one)?

Not sure what the letters at the end mean for your camera, but it will likley be to do with quality settings, e.g. frame size, progressive or interlaced, Mbps rates etc. Should be in the manual somewhere.
