1st gen wireless keyboard (2003) work with recent mac?

Hi 🙂

I just bought an "old new stock" 1st gen wireless keyboard... installed fresh batteries and was trying to pair with:

iMac 2010, MBP 13" 2011 and MBP 17" 2011, all 10.7... but unsuccessful

The macs can discover the keyboard, but when BT setup prompts to input the 8-digit pair code.

I cannot type anything, pressing the keys gave no response, and then timeout and failed.

I searched in Apple's documents and it seems that this 1st gen wireless keyboard shd still be compatible:

One thing not sure related to the issue or not - this keyboard is a Japanese version, key layout is a bit different.

Any clue? :/

Many thanks for your kind attention,

James
