Installing & using Chrome?

Alright, so I installed Chrome the other day.. It works flawlessly, no issues. Until I restart my Mac? I don't know why the Chrome download file I downloaded stays on the top right and I can't remove it? I restart the Mac and well it's gone but when I try and open Chrome from my bottom dock it asks me for permission and the same Chrome file shows up on the top right. Why is that? It's so annoying. I cannot remove it and everytime I restart the Mac it has to ask me for permission because the file was downloaded on the internet? Confused. 😕

Is it not installed correctly?

Theoretically the only install you do is drag chrome from the mounted .dmg folder to /Applications (it even indicates that with an alias to /Applications in the mounted .dmg). But, hey, it's google stuff, they can be a bit insidious in the crap they install.

Did you put chrome in /Applications? What kind of permission is it asking for? Is it the quarantine ("you are opening a file downloaded from the internet") message? Did you give it permissions.

Take a screen shot of the dialog.

Specifically what is name of that file that keeps reappearing?

It's just the regular Google Chrome file. It reappears after opening Chrome everytime I restart. And I don't restart often, only do it to remove the file from the desktop. I click the Chrome icon on the dock and then it always prompts me to open the file.

Why can't it just go straight to Chrome without reopening the file I downloaded from Safari. It's odd.

The icon you are seeing in the top right of your screen is the Google .dmg file (i.e. the installer file you downloaded). You use that to install Chrome and can then get rid of it. Look in your Applications folder for the executable version of Chrome as that is the one you should be launching. If it is there you can get rid of the top right icon. Move your cursor over the icon and right click then select Eject.

If Chrome is not in the Applications folder go through the installation process again and then repeat the 'eject' step above.

In my first post I assumed you properly installed Chrome as I discribed there. Are you trying to launch Chrom from the mounted .dmg shown in your image? If so that is incorrect. Open (double click) that .dmg image to open it and drag chrome to your applications folder as I said. The mouted image even shows an alias to /Applications son you can drag chrome on top of that to copy it to applications. The launch chrome from there.
