Software Update Question

Hi there, I just upgrade my 10.6.8 server to 10.7.3 server.

I wanted to get the SoftwareUpdate service to work, I enabled it, waited it out for a day and night, and all the updates are available, copied and enabled.

Now the clients, I still have 95% 10.6.8 client which are fully patched, so I'm not really able to test if they will receive the updates from the new server.

I installed a 10.7 client, ran ' defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL http://xxx.xxx.loc:8088/catalogs.sucatalog ' on that client, and started SoftwareUpdate on that client.

It says it is all updated.

Which it is not, because it should update to 10.7.3 for example..

In the server log it says:

IPadres - - date 80 GET "/catalogs.sucatalog" 200 588 "-" "softwareupdate (unknown version) CFNetwork/520.0.13 Darwin/11.0.0 (x86_64) (iMac9%2C1)

Should I use another CatalogURL, or is something else worng? anyone has an idea?

Greetings,

Ed

OK, it works now, after renaming the swupd.plist and restarting the Service, the server created a index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog file.

I than ran:

defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate CatalogURL http://xxx.xxx.loc:8088/index-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog ' on that client, restarted it and it found the updates.

I thought there was 1 catalogurl which would provide the updates for all (10.6 and 10.7) clients?
