Footnote in table?

you arent doing any thing wrong. Think the best you can do is attach a footnote to any title or caption of the table

Have you thought about the possibility of adding a cell to the table at the bottom, adding your footnote, and making that cell's outlines invisible? That would be one work-around. Or, were you looking for a way to add a footnote at the bottom of the page instead of the bottom of the table? If this is the case, you could always add a footnote corresponding to the table text within the regular text and format the footnote's symbol so that it's the same color as the background (or change its transparency). This version is a longer work-around but if you wanted your footnote at the foot of the page it's the only way I can see to do it.

No, not exactly, but you can hand format it to look like a footnote. Of course you'd end up performing some superscripting, changing font sizes, etc. but it would look good in the end. That was my intended meaning.

I think the only reliable method is to use an asterix or other symbol in the table then use a footnote to a paragraph immediately below which says something like

"* refer footnote'.
