Can't ping computer name, but can ping ip address of computer?

Hello all,

I am currently using an airport extreme (in Bridge Mode) with an AT&T Uverse gateway. All computers can access Internet and printers and shared drives properly. However, I can not ping computer's by their common name (Dad_MacbookPro), but I can ping them by their ip address (10.0.1.24). I have a total of 4 OS X 10.7 computers, 1 OS X 10.6 computers and one Windows 7 computer.

What should I be looking for to resolve this?
