Photostream not synching photos to MacBook

Not sure where to post this question so I am starting here.

Photostream does not upload all my photos from my iPad2 and my iPhone4 to my MacBook. Does some of them…some of the time. But it is haphazard at best. I am up-to-date on all my software updates. Have rebooted the phone and the iPad. I don’t have so many pictures that I am out of room. My MacBook was purchased this year in January. What gives? Any advice?
