Well good for you. How wonderful that you have a device you won't be able to use to it's full potential. You won't be able to download apps. You won't be able to have books, or music, or magazines, or productivity tools. Your stuborness yields a pretty worthless and expensive device which won't do much. But at least you didn't answer some simple security questions.

The point is that the questions are very irritating to some people, such as myself. Who was my first teacher? I don't bloody remember! What was your favourite car you ever owned? Erm, I've never owned a car. In which city did your parents meet? They didn't meet in a city ffs - not everyone lives/works in cities.

The questions have a heavy US cultural interest bias, in my view. I'd be far happier if I could just add my own questions.

You could just provide anything for an answer to those questions. They don't have to be true.

Favorite car? Horse and Buggy.

first teacher? Aristotle.

city parents met? The capital of Atlantis.

Done. The only time you would ever need the answers would be if you forget your Apple ID password. In that case, the answers are used to insure that you are really you and not somebody trying to hijack your account.

You don't have to remember the answers. Print the screen after you've filled them in and put it in a safe, secure place along with your other important papers.

You're making too much over a trivial thing. It's a necessary evil in order to keep your account safe.

If the whole of your personal history can easily be found online in 10 minutes, clearly it is you who has the security problem - not Apple. Are you one of these idiots who posts every minute detail of their life and relationships on facebook? If so, you only have yourself to blame for other people's ease of finding your personal info.

And if your memory is so bad you can't remember simple answers to simple questions, get yourself a secure password storage app, or even use paper and pen kept in a safe place.

The key to security question/answer protection is to allow the user to specify the questions and answers. You invite hacking by allowing only specific questions, and providing truthful answers. There will be some who know you well enough to guess the answers. Either fake the answers or wait for Apple to catch up with the security world by letting users choose their own questions. I hope the reason for not doing so is not something really dumb, like using a few more bytes on their servers.
