Apps won't download on my iOS devices.

I have a 3rd generation iPad and an iPhone 4, both of which are encountering problems downloading apps from the app store.

I first noticed the problem about 5 days ago, whenever i attempt to download an app or an update to an app it just stops at "waiting" on the home screen. I am unable to pause/resume the app status, as when i tap on it nothing happens.

if i leave the app for about 5-10 minutes i get a warning pop up along the lines of "could not connect to the iTunes store"...my wifi is connected fine and i have tried it on other peoples wifi and still have the same problem.

I have tried resetting the iPad and iPhone and that doesn't fix it either.

I even went to the extend of wiping the iPad completely and restoring from iCloud and that didn't fix it, I tried then restoring as a completely new iPad and that didn't fix it either.

I was beginning to think that it must be an issue with my apple ID, however it still lets me sign in ok and when i plug my iPad into my MacBook Pro and open iTunes I am able to install the apps via that method.

To be clear, it is installing or updating apps on my iOS devices themselves that refuses to work.

I hope you can advise a solution as I am becoming increasingly frustrated with my lack of progress on what seems such a ridiculous issue as downloading apps is one of the more basic functions of an iOS device.

I'm also having the same problem on my iPad 3rd Gen. I'm unable to update already downloaded apps or download new apps. My internet connection itself is working and I'm able to surf the App Store without any problems. I've tried turning my device on and off multiple times, I have signed out and back into my Apple Store ID, and have reset my router while also turning my wifi off and on again but to no avail. This has been going on for the past couple of days now intermittently.

I would also like to echo how frustrating this is and how it really detracts from the overall experience of using Apple products. Some kind of response or fix would be appreciated greatly.

I have also experienced app update problems in the last half hour. Had 5 updates for iPad, 3 downloaded fine, but the remaining 2 apps (Cards and Flixster) don't come through.

After waiting for several minutes, get the pop-up message "cannot connect to iTunes store".

Tried a few times, no luck, but the updates aren't a big deal for me right now. Sorry to hear some of you are having problems with purchases.

I'm having the same problem. Just setting up my 3rd Gen iPad and wasn't able to do so. Get stuck at "Installing..." after which it time outs. Same problem with my iPhone 4S when I checked. However, my wife's iPhone 4S works fine, so it must be related to an account issue. Have done all the restarting/sign in/out/Try with 3G, Wi-Fi, to no avail. This is frustrating.

Yep, same here. I have an ipad 3rd gen and an iphone 4s using my apple id. Can't download apps on ipad, iphone nor itunes on pc (using windows 7). My wife has no issues downloading apps to her iphone 4s which uses her own apple id. Must be something going on with apple side of things since there are so many of us having the exact same issues...hopefully they can fix this soon. I may call support tomorrow. Please reply here if any of you come up with a solution. 😉

Follow up. Just out of curiosity, has anyone received a request from apple in the last few days, to set up 3 different security questions for the app store account? While in the app store, when I tried downloading an app, I recieved a message that asked me to set up the extra security features, before I was able to continue. I found it odd, but since it was directly from within the app store, I assumed it was a new security feature that has been added. Just wondering if anyone else experienced this.

I am having this exact same issue while attempting to update apps on my 3rd generation iPad. Started gving me issues on 3 days ago, but became a constant issues yesterday. I have rebooted many times, done many hard reboots and ever restore factory settings. I didn't wipe all data from the device and start over. I can install apps to my tablet by downloading them to my computer and syncing via iTunes, but I shouldn't have to. This is my 4th IOS device and never had issues like this before.

Apps won't download on my iOS devices.
