I have a new Sony Bravia and use Airport Time Capsule. The Sony says that I am WiFi connected to the internet, BUT it still doesn't seem to be able to access anything on my Mac which is connected to the Airport Time Capsule. And when I go to Airport Utility, it doesn't show anything other than the Airport Time Capsule and the Internet, which perhaps is OK? Anyway, I'm not sure what to do next. I just got it to see photos in my Photo Stream" on my iPhone via wi=i, but I want it to see my Mac's stuff.

Might you still have the step-by-step instructions from Sony? I called Sony and Sony pointed me to this: https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/42306 even though I told them I have an AirPort Extreme Base Station and that my Sony Bravia model # KDL 46EX 720 has wireless (built-in) capability. My Bravia can 'see' my home WiFi network name and I have entered the WPA2 key but it never connects. In fact, I tried all four options presented by Bravia (different WPA 2 personal, the WPSK or something, etc.) None of the four options connects me to the internet. Do I need to change my home WiFi network settings so that my TV can see it AND connect to it? I'm using xfinity internet access only connected to my Motorola SURFBoard SB 6141 which is connected to my AirPort Extreme via co-ax and ethernet cables. I can access the internet on my desktop iMac, but can't get my Bravia to connect to internet. I can't use AirPort Utility because Mavericks doesn't support my base station. Would appreciate any help. Thanks so much.

I had no problem getting my Sony TV to connect to the internet through my AirPort Time Capsule, don't think I did anything special at all. Sorry, I don't have any special instructions, but if I go to Settings on my Sony (there are little icons at the top of some screens, one of which is for settings), it gives me Network Connection as a menu choice, and that allows me to go through whatever was required to set up the network. It just worked, and again, I can't tell you why.

As for Turbostar's question, I've been able to use some "apps" on the Sony to now see some photos and videos on my iPhone, but my ideal would be to find a way to go to a site such as cspan.org and have what is running on cspan1 or cspan2 (as examples) show on the Sony.

you'll need to run a cable from your Mac to the HDMI input of your TV since you're basically wanting to make Sony into a monitor for your computer

or, you can connect an AppleTV to your computer and then you'll be able to wirelessly use the TV as your Mac's monitor via turning on mirroring

Turbo - I didn't think that my model of iMac would work with an external monitor, but I"ll check. I had hoped that since the iMac and the TV are both on the same (wi-fi) network in my house, that there would be a way to make that work. So here's my other question. If I connect an Apple TV, will that do mirroring with any TV? Somehow, I don't think that my TV model (KDL40W600B) allows for that, but I'm not sure. It has a bunch of apps, the same as an Apple TV does (I think) to allow me to go to a limited set of content sources, but I thought that devices such as the Apple TV won't let you simply stream anything you want, but I don't own an Apple TV so maybe I'm wrong.

I just looked at the instruction booklet for the latest Apple TV. It says:

"Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer if you want to play content from your computer on Apple TV."

That leads me to believe that I can't simplky connect via my browser to some source such as cspan.org and then to see it on my TV, but am limited to predefined sources that the Apple TV connects to, be it Netflix (just an example) or something I bought through iTunes. Am I wrong, I hope?
