I need to access PC (XP) files from my mabook pro. The Mac connects via the SMB and shows the shared folders, but says cannot connect when you try to look in a folder. Also the SMB is not asking for a password to access PC, have set one up

When I switched over from XP several years ago, it just took my PC a while to allow access to the shared folders I set up for migration (especially if they are large folders like the iTunes music folder etc.). I had to reboot Windows a few times too.
