mini display to HDMI troubles

I bought a mini display to HDMI the other day and when I first plugged it up it worked perfectly but the second time I plugged it up the audio wouldn't come out of the tv, only my computer. Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Option+click on the speaker icon on the menu bar and check what is set for 'Output device'.

Thank you very much, I didnt have to change the output the first time so I was confused. I'v never tried something like this with my computer before.
