PS the ipad was about 5 months old at the time Apple replaced it with a new one. The age of the product is probably important.

AND another time, about 3-years ago, my Apple laptop cord burnt through (the casing was scortched and it made a burn mark on the carpet - when I took the laptop in they went to repair it but the drive crashed at that exact time - I suspect some type of power surge that fried the drive and the cord, or something like that)

BUT my point is that APPLE gave me a BRAND NEW titanium laptop to replace the old one - AGAIN FREE.

A great company, we'll be customers for as long as they turn out good products and tak care of their customer like this!

OK - well doubt all you like. I was just posting here because I wanted to let people know that Apple did something really nice for my family, and they've done it before. As I said in my previous post, on April 25, 2012, Apple in Burbank, CA at the genius bar replaced our cracked screen on the ipad for free. I did not have Apple Care. I told them my son dropped it the guy went back & forth to the manager and the manager OK'd it.

Also, now that I'm thinking about being called a liar, around September 2011, the home button on my iphone failed to respond when pushed, I took it into the Apple store in Ontario CA at the Ontario Hill Mall ONLY see if they could fix it, the guy at the genius bar just replaced it with a new iphone of the same model, I didn't even ask for a new one, I was surprised and delighted. - it was about 12 months old at the time.

So - I don't know where you live but out here in So. Cal. The Apple stores go out of their way to help people and they have helped me a lot. I posted this only to let people know that, as it appears, sometime Apple CAN and DOES replace products if they can - and have done that for me, repeatedly. maybe this policy will change now that Steve's dead, but so far they have.

I guess if you ask them nicely they may help you too, but if you go around calling people liars, when you have no evidence to support that- it may turn people off... just saying...

Why don't you try a different store - and put on your happy face.

Since the release of AppleCare Plus, Apple has pretty much ended the policy of replacing hardware that has clearly been damaged through negligence and not a manufacturers defect. If you have AppleCare Plus you can replace your iPad for $49. If you do not have it go back to the Apple Store, talk to the manager, and see if they will let you purchase AppleCare Plus for $99 and then pay the $49 deductible to replace your iPad.
