iPad 3rd Gen Gets Hot When Screen Brightness Is High

Hi Everyone

Can anyone tell me if this is normal. I have a new iPad 32gb WiFi + 4G model

Now I'm aware of the heat issue around the bottom left of the device but mine get hot middle left hand side of the display. I wouldn't say it's warm. I would go as far as saying it gets hot. Turning the display brightness down does reduce the heat. So Before I return to my local apple store some 70 miles away I was just wondering if this is normal?

From reading the majority of post's relating to the heat, a lot of them seem to be related to the screen brightness set on a high setting.

I would recommend keeping the screen brightness setting set to Automatic.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have to have my screen brightness up full because I have an eye condition and struggle to see if the display is dim. the bezel only gets hot on the left side. All other sides are what I would say is normal in comparison to my first gen iPad and iPad 2.

THat seems to pretty much be the consensus. Apple has stated that this is normal. But they also stated that hey have a certain range hat is considered normal. If you are concerned, then you could take it to an Apple store for diagnosis. If it is getting overly hot, they should replace it.

If you feel that it gets too warm / hot, you may want to contact Apple to ask their opinion.
