Q: Power Mac G4 motherboard Replacement options?

It started with the computer not being able to boot past the grey apple.

After a lot of investigation it's determined that a motherboard is damaged.

I have taked a picture: http://donfirth.com/mdd

As you can see the 3 yellow square.

1 of them have blown.

I have a question as to the likeliness of the CPU's still being fine.

I would imagine they are since it still boots to the grey apple and target disc mode functions.

Can I use slightly different models of the MDD motherboard.

Mine is a 630-4633 and my CPU's are dual 1.25 GHz.

Thanks for any help.

You will find it very difficult to find a replacement motherboard for an obsolete G4.

Obsolete products are those that were discontinued more than seven years ago. Apple has discontinued all hardware service for obsolete products with no exceptions. Service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products. These include ALL G4 models. On November 23, 2011 all G5 models were declared as 'vintage'. Obsolescence cannot be far behind.
